Desks, desks and more desks...

Do you ever get on a roll with a certain kind of furniture? We have quite a few desks at Elizabeth & Co. at the moment and I have a few more waiting in the wings. So I really didn't need another desk in my life, but when this one came along, how could I refuse?

It had some surface scratches, but otherwise was in really great shape!

And I was pretty sure I could sand out the scratches and go with a natural wood top.

I prepped it with Pre-Stain Wood Conditioner. Minwax calls this the first step to a beautiful finish and it really does make a difference. I like the way it penetrates the wood and helps your stain achieve a really nice uniform finish.

Pretty, right?

I really love the chunky knobs with a little swirl design.

And I've shared this before, a super easy way to paint knobs. Just grab a box, punch holes in the flaps and attach the knobs.

You can use the screw on the underside to hold the knob still as you are painting. The knobs dry easily. And you don't end up with lost bits and pieces. Works like a charm!

I replaced the two missing knobs with some pretty clay typography knobs from Vintage Skye.

I love using a mix of knobs on a piece for added interest!

The body of the desk was painted with leftover white paint mixed with the homemade chalk paint recipe. And seriously, don't you just love the details on this piece!

And here she is all set up and ready for our tag sale next week!

And here are a few of the other desks we have ready and waiting for a new home!

So there you have it, a desk makeover and a few preview shots of our upcoming sale. We're almost ready. We just need to clean, fluff and bake a few cookies!
