Creamy Drop Leaf Table

Today's project is a sweet little drop leaf table. Nice kitchen and dining tables tend to be a little harder to find than some other pieces of furniture. They are usually pretty beat-up and almost always have wobbly legs. But not this one, she came our way in really great shape. She just needed a little update!

Megan took on this project. She started out with a good cleaning and a coat of primer.

Then came two coats of Sherwin Williams paint in Creamy to play up the cottage style of this piece.

And like another furniture painting girl we know, Megan usually goes with a light distressing.

Drop leaf tables are versatile space savers.

And a few coats of poly will give this sweet table a new lease on life.

Isn't she sweet? What a great cottage style table!

Blue Cricket Design

Old White China Cabinet

I came across this china cabinet at my local Goodwill. I decided to go for a classic look and painted the outside of the cabinet in Old White chalk paint.


This one was in great shape. I just gave her an overall light sanding with a sanding sponge.

She had a bit of red in her, so I ended up doing a third coat of chalk paint.

The reflections in the glass doors made her really hard to photograph!

I love the scale of this piece. She would look lovely in almost any room. You know that china cabinets aren't just for china. I have one in my bathroom!

And that molding is just gorgeous!

I thought all white was a little boring, so I mixed some Paris Grey and Louis Blue together for the inside of the cabinet. Mixing your own colors is fun and a great way to use up the last bits of paint in a can!

I love the contrast of the blue/grey against the white.

I kept all the original hardware and went right over it with the chalk paint. That's one of my favorite things about chalk paint!

And chalk paint really does distress beautifully!

I finished up with a coat of clear wax and that was it!
