Tag Sale Cookies

We always have a tray of cookies at our tag sales. It's just a nice touch. And the husbands and little ones seem to especially appreciate it. And carrying furniture around is hard work and we girls get hungry too!

For our first sale last fall, I was searching for a chocolate cookie that would hold up in the heat. I found a recipe in the Betty Crocker Cookie Book for Chocolate Cookies. A simple name and a simple recipe. I usually make cookies from scratch, but this one sounded so easy and it was listed as a "most requested recipe". Well, it's a keeper for sure. Just ask Karla!

Stir together just three ingredients.

1 pkg Betty Crocker Devil's Food Cake Mix

1/3 cup vegetable oil

2 eggs

Roll into 1-inch balls and roll in sugar.

Place about 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake 8 to 10 minutes in a 350 degree oven.

The recipe says it makes 4 dozen, but I get closer to 3 dozen.

Now, how easy is that! They are soft and chewy on the inside with a nice little crunch on the outside. I thought they deserved a better name, so now I just call them Tag Sale Cookies. And we've had them at every sale!

One gentleman told me I didn't need to sell furniture, I should just sell the cookies!

Enjoy!

I make these cookies at Christmas but I add chocolate chips in one batch, peanut butter chips in the next batch, nuts in another batch - and never even wash the bowl in between. I don't - however - roll mine in sugar - I just drop them on the sheet. I also make them with apple spice cake mix (with nuts and raisins) and carrot cake mix (with nuts and raisins). I did find out the hard way that you can't us the butter cake mix with chocolate chips to make faux toll house cookies - there's too much butter in the cake mix and they spread all over the pan.
