Pillow Talk

This box arrived on my doorstep a few weeks ago. I love getting packages in the mail!

This one was from my daughter Megan. She moved from Maryland to Kentucky over the summer because of her husband's job. Megan loves to paint furniture too. She wanted to make something for our Tag Sale, but shipping furniture from Kentucky to Maryland is not very practical. I had mentioned to her that I thought we could use a little softness to break up all the furniture pieces. So, she decided to get creative and whip up a few pillows for us.

Megan doesn't have a sewing machine, so she sent the top and bottom of each pillow. Then I sewed them together and stuffed them with pillow forms. I definitely got the easy part of the project.

Most of the flowers are made from felt. I love the color combinations and the fact that each flower is unique. She even added little leaf and button details.

Here they are all tagged and ready to go.

Aren't they just too cute!

And they were a big hit at our sale!

Thanks Megan, you are sweet and talented!

What a great idea to send them without the filling in them (and have both of you involved in the project by her designing them and you sewing them)! I love crafting with my mom and maybe we'll have to take a tip from your long distance crafting! The pillows are too cute. I don't know that I'd be able to put them in a tag sale!

How pretty, I like that they are all in the same color palette, they'll display well.

Thank you for the compliments! Although I can't take all the credit for how the pillows turned out. There are some great pillow tutorials out there in blogworld.

I used this tutorial for the flowers with the rounded petals:

This one for the flowers with the pointed petals:

And I tried a bunch of different methods for making rosettes. Some I made in felt, and this tutorial got me started on making them with flannel: http://www.vanessachristenson.com/2009/12/winning-tutorial-snow-ruffle-pillow.html

So I'll give credit to all the great bloggers who inspired me, and I hope they inspire you!
