This combination headboard and footboard started out with a traditional brown maple finish. I picked them up at a yard sale. In my excitement to get started, I forgot to take a before picture, but I'm sure you know exactly what I mean.
I wanted to do a really simple classic look in a creamy white finish with no glazing
and just a bit of distressing. I think this duo has a great timeless look.
I did use a final coat of wax for a really smooth finish.
Sometimes the simple finishes turn out to be the very best!

It looks so sweet, I love it. I have a twin headboard and footboard (that we saved from the side of the road :-) waiting for a fresh coat of creamy white as well. You can never go wrong with white, it is definitely my favorite color to use. I have stumbled across your blog several times in the past few weeks and I like it! I am your newest follower!

Did you prime the bed first or just apply paint? Simple looks good!
Answers to questions - Yes, I primed first. I almost always prime unless I am doing a heavy distressing and really want the old color to shine through. And yes, I did use spray paint this time. I thought Rust-oleum Painter's Touch ultra cover 2x in satin heirloom white would be perfect here. I don't use spray paint all that often, especially not on big pieces. I find the final result to sometimes be splotchy. To combat this problem, I try to use very light coats, but go over the piece quite a few times, basically until it looks nice and even. Thanks for asking!
