Early June Garden Happenings

It's been a wet and chilly week around here, but I have a feeling that we'll be richly rewarded once the sun finally returns. In the meantime, here's a peek at what's been happening so far!

I love carefree perennials in the flower beds, but fill pots with annuals and herbs for color and immediate impact. The only real downside is that they need to be watered almost daily in the heat of summer.

I like pots in groups of three and I try different varieties and color combinations every year!

Here in Maryland, we are just transitioning from the spring flowering bulbs, shrubs and trees to the perennials.

The vegetable gardens are my husband's domain and they are off to a great start.

Yesterday I spotted the very first peas.

Last year we were overwhelmed with green beans, so the plan this year is to plant a half a row at a time.

This is the salad bed. We've already been enjoying the onions and radishes.

So there you have it, a quick garden tour between rain showers.

And here's my little garden helper, curls blowing in the breeze.
She likes to water, just like her mommy!

June Garden Party

Welcome to our June Garden Party!

Elizabeth and Co.

To celebrate summer, we're hosting a monthly garden party from May through September. And I always think it really starts feel like summer once I flip that calendar over to June! I'll be back later in the week with an update on my gardens.

Now here's some beautiful garden inspiration from our May party .....

Laurel from The North End Loft has a wonderful tour of her rustic urban garden, along with some thoughts about how her garden has transitioned over the years. And it's so true, gardens grow and evolve over time just like the people who love and care for them!

Brooke from Creative Country Mom's Vintage Home & Garden also shared her spring garden tour!

Kokedama is a traditional Japanese art form that uses moss to create a container for a plant. Stacy from Sweethearts & Sweet Tarts received several of these moss planters as a birthday gift from her mom. So cool hanging from her tree!

Head over to Adventures in Junking and be inspired to get creative when choosing containers for planting!

Check out this trumpet planter!

You'll find more fun ways to use junk in the garden over at Reduce, Reuse, Renewed!

I'm Not A Trophy Wife shared this cute garden/puppy gate!

Tara from Lehman Lane has a mailbox in her garden for storing garden tools - very clever!

My husband will tell you that I'm a bit obsessed with crisp, clean garden edges. You can get great tips for edging over at Thelma's Days.

Cecilia from My Thrift Store Addiction refreshed a rusty bench for a pretty pop of color and a touch of whimsy in her garden!

Thanks so much to everyone who shared their garden inspiration!

Now on to this month's party.....
*Link up any outdoor or garden related project you'd like to share - what's growing in your yard or garden, patio gardens, landscaping ideas, outdoor craft projects, garden furniture, bringing the outdoors in, garden fresh recipes and of course we love pretty porches and patios too!

*A link back would be appreciated, especially if you'd like to be considered for a feature.

*We'll launch a new party on the first of the month. Feel free to link up as often as you like throughout the month!

Can't wait to see what's happening in your outdoor world!
