Be Inspired Features and Link Party # 118

Happy Tuesday! Welcome back for features and party day!

Elizabeth and Co.

I hope all the moms out there had a wonderful Mother's Day!
It was a fun day of planting around here.

I'll be back first thing tomorrow with a preview of our spring tag sale.
Yes, it's sale week again!

But first, let's have a party! Clearly I was obsessed with furniture this week .....

I am crazy for this gorgeous green Italian chair from D.D.'s Cottage and Design.
I love the sign too!

Darrielle also gave this pair of Frenchy Chairs a brand new look. And that's a really good thing because the original fabric hurt my eyes. I'd say she is quite the upholstery pro, don't you agree?

RPK Interiors shared this beautiful pair of peacock blue end tables!
Love that color!

Jennifer from Ardent Hands used a gorgeous shade of coral on this curvy French Provincial Dresser!

This coffee table turned tufted bench from Pneumatic Addict Furniture is totally glamorous with it's red lacquered finish! And Elisha has a nicely detailed tutorial for the tufting process too. How perfect!

Cassie from Primitive & Proper used a touch of gold to highlight this stylish white bamboo dresser - so pretty!

Allison from Fab Rehab Creations used the exact same shade of white and highlighted it with a flawless wood top!

Audra from Reduce, Renewed, Reuse took a curbside sofa table and turned it into a fabulous mudroom bench!

Susan from Uniquely Yours or Mine added a cool horse silhouette to the top of this pretty little desk. I can so see this in a little girl's room!

And Korrie from Red Hen Home used a mix of stains to create a soft and subtle Union Jack design.

Emerald Green

I have wanted to paint something in a big bold green for the longest time!

So when the nice folks at General Finishes sent me this yummy Emerald Milk Paint I was thrilled. I've tried this paint before and I'm a big fan. Buttermilk Yellow, Lamp Black and Coastal Blue are three of my favorite colors. This milk paint is not a powder or even a true milk paint, but a water based acrylic. I love the way it goes on smoothly and levels out nicely - perfect for furniture.

I thought this sewing machine cabinet was the perfect candidate for a big bold color. With their long legs, these cabinets are so versatile. They work especially well as nightstands with today's higher mattresses.

Milk paint requires a minimum of prep work. You know the drill, a once over with a sanding sponge and a thorough cleaning with TSP. I also removed the sewing machine and glued down the lid to make the cabinet easier to handle. Those old sewing machines are really heavy!

I loved the little knobs, so they were keepers!
I finished this piece with a coat of Fiddes & Sons clear wax.

So there you have it, big bold emerald green!
Wouldn't this look great in a boy's room between twin beds with denim comforters and plaid sheets? Yes, as I'm painting I like to imagine where a piece might end up!

May Garden Party

Happy May Day!

May Day is a celebration of spring and flowers.
So of course we need a party!

Last year we hosted a monthly garden party from May through September. It was so much fun, we thought we'd do it again! A new party will begin on the first of each month and you are welcome to visit and link up as often as you like. Any garden or outdoor related project is welcome, including ways to bring the beauty of nature indoors and recipes using your garden bounty. Even if your garden space is limited to a pot by the front door, feel free to share!

My passion for gardening started long before I ever painted a piece of furniture. I just love playing in the dirt! As soon as the holidays are over, the seed catalogs start arriving in the mail and I start dreaming. There is just something very hopeful and optimistic about planting a garden.

Even when I don't have time to work in my gardens, I make a point to take a little tour every single day. It's often the first thing I do in the morning and the last thing in the evening.

There is always something new to see, smell, enjoy and appreciate!

The daffodils, tulips and flowering trees are taking center stage here in Maryland right now. But we've had a week of heavy rain, so I know that an explosion of color is right around the corner!

So let's celebrate May Day and get this garden party started!

Elizabeth and Co.

*Link up any outdoor/garden related project you'd like to share - what's growing in your yard or garden, patio gardens, landscaping ideas, outdoor related craft projects, garden furniture and décor, bringing the outdoors in, garden fresh recipes and of course we love pretty porches and patios too!

*A link back would be appreciated, especially if you'd like to be considered for a feature.

*Link up as often as you like throughout the month!

Can't wait to see what's happening in your outdoor world!
