Vintage Pink Vanity

I knew in an instant ..... she was meant to be pink!

I bought this wonderful vintage vanity from a sweet young couple on Craigslist. We met in a parking lot on a Sunday morning. Needless to say, I did not go alone ... because hey, you just never know!

She needed a few repairs and had certainly been well used over the years. And even though I mixed up some homemade chalk paint, I still gave her a good scrubbing and a once over with a sanding sponge. People always ask about skipping the prep work with chalk paint. My feeling is that chalk paint minimizes, but does not totally eliminate all prep work.  And that goes for the chalk paint straight out of the can too. No need to break out the heavy sander, but smoothing out the rough edges and knocking down the shine a bit only takes a few minutes and you'll be much happier with the end result. And yes, you can totally skip the primer - yeah!

She got a light distressing to highlight the edges.

I just love these pulls!

And I finished her up with a nice coat of wax.

There are a lot of good wax options out there, but my go-to favorites are still Minwax and SCJohnson. They are easy to use, readily available, reasonably priced and most importantly, give you a beautiful smooth finish. Just apply with a soft cloth or a wax brush if you happy to have one, allow to dry to a haze (20 to 30 minutes should do it) and buff with a clean soft cloth - perfection!

Isn't she sweet?

Hmm, I'm thinking maybe she needs a cute little seat.
It would have to be pink, of course!

A Little Red, White & Blue

One of my favorite things about our tag sales here at Elizabeth & Co. is decorating for the each season. Here it is July already and our summer sale is just a few weeks away. So on Sunday afternoon when it was just too darn hot to paint, I settled in for a Pride & Prejudice marathon (six hours of Colin Firth, need I say more) and whipped up a little red, white and blue. ... Our house has lots of doors, so our course we need a few wreaths.

I love big fluffy burlap bows!

And burlap rosettes are a fun alternative to bows!

And I thought a few patriotic paper rosettes (lollies, medallions, whatever you want to call them) would be fun too. These are so easy and you can pretty much use whatever supplies you have on hand.

Cute, right? But I'm guessing you'd much rather see them at the sale. So how about a little red, white and blue sneak peek? It's not really ready yet, but it's coming along. We girls will be painting, thrifting and fluffing till the very last minute!

So there you have it, a little red, white and blue to celebrate the holiday and your first sneak peek at our summer tag sale (all the details are on the sidebar).  Enjoy the day!

Be Inspired Features and Link Party #26

Happy Tuesday! Welcome back for features and party day!

Can you believe it's July already? I hope you are keeping cool and enjoying the slower pace of summer. But based on all the fabulous links, I'm really not sure that's the case. You've been very busy! Here are just a few projects that caught my eye this week ...

Ansley from Vivaciously Vintage shared this patriotic coffee table just in time to celebrate the holiday. That flag is just perfect!

Miss Flibberligibbet shared this beautiful hymn table covered with what else - hymns!

From Generation to Generation shared this amazing photo dresser! Have you ever seen anything like it?

I just love the soft buttery color of this big beautiful hutch from Shari at Turnstyle Vogue!

And I am such a fan of Julia's work over at 551 East. Just look at this gorgeous dresser! The color is amazing, the knobs just sparkle and it looks smooth as silk.

White Lace Cottage used a vintage ladder to join two cabinets in her dreamy white kitchen. So unique and pretty!

Don't you love decorating with beach finds? Well if you can't make it to the beach, Aimee from Twigg Studios has a tutorial for making your own starfish. And they look exactly like the real thing!

I love these rustic planters from Reposhture! Can you believe Kim made them from vintage downspouts?

I love this pretty summer necklace from Tanya at Twelve-O-Eight! I think she has a great eye for putting bits and pieces together in a new way. And I love unique jewelry pieces!

Jane's Adventures in Dinner suggests trying these herb buns with a burger - oh that sounds good! If you whip up a batch quickly, they could be the hit of your July 4th picnic!

Thanks so much to everyone who linked up and linked back! I so appreciate you being here. If you've been featured, feel free to grab a cute little button from the sidebar!

Now on to this week's party! The guidelines are simple...

* Link up your furniture makeovers, DIY projects, home decor, crafts, recipes, thrifty finds, etc... We want to see whatever is inspiring you at the moment!

* Grab a party button and add it to your post or link back in some way!

* And be sure to follow along with us!

We'll be back next week with features and a brand new party.

Now let's share some inspiration!

Seven Random Things About Roxane

Hi Everyone, it's been crazy busy around here! I have way too many projects going on at once and I'm spending every spare moment outside watering. I'm desperately trying to keep all my new garden plants alive in this heat. It's really HOT out there! ... But I really know I'm getting behind in the blog world when my son calls to ask me what I've been up to because I haven't posted anything all week. And I do have tons of finished projects to share, just not enough time to share them!

Today I want to send a huge thank you out to Jane at Urbane Jane for passing The Versatile Blooger award along to us! Jane is one cute and multi-talented girl who blogs from Canada. She is married to a handy man who loves renovation projects too - how much fun is that!

Jane recently tried her hand at jewelry making and created this beautiful ring made out of clay - gorgeous!

I love all the bright and modern touches in Jane's home like this mod podged fabric frame.

And my favorite project is this coffee table Jane turned into a beautiful and functional bench for her foyer!

Like I said, Jane is multi-talented!
I hope you get a chance to stop by and say hello at Urbane Jane!

So today is Roxane's turn. Roxane is the newest member of Elizabeth & Co. and she's easing in slowly as she also has a full-time job at a local college library. I've known Roxane for many years. We have children the same ages and we've worked on more school booster projects than I can count. Here are few random things you might not know about Roxane ...

1. I must have coffee in the morning (It gets ugly if I don’t )

2. I read a lot and have kept a journal for thirty years of the books I have read.

3. Gummy bears and Rita’s gelato are my weakness.

4. Forty to sixty people at my house for Thanksgiving is normal ( this is just my husband’s side of the family)

5. I find hanging clothes on the line to dry a relaxing chore.

6. I am very curious sometimes too curious!

7. My family is my joy. I am blessed with 3 wonderful adult children, a soon to be daughter-in-law and a husband who is always in my corner.

Thanks Roxane, so happy to have you as part of the team!
