Welcome Roxane!

Today I get to introduce you to an old friend. Roxane and I have known each other for awhile now. When our children were in elementary school (long, long ago!), we co-chaired the school carnival together for six years. It was a blast and we learned that we worked really well together. Now we have the pleasure of working together again. Roxane is joining our team here at Elizabeth & Co. She's a vintage loving girl too. Welcome Roxane!

And she just delivered her first two projects for our upcoming tag sale.

Roxane came across this little end table at our local Goodwill.
In a soft cottage green paint from Behr called Shortgrass, it takes on
a whole new look.

It reminds her of a piece that would look right at home in a lakeside cabin.

Love the curves.

Super cute, don't you think?

Next up, a sweet little chair that looked a little sad in all brown.

Roxane started this transformation with a fresh coat of soft black.
Then she added one of her favorite Waverly fabrics to the seat.
She's used this fabric for curtains and cushions in her family room.

She's a big fan of dark red, especially when paired with black.

Definitely a winning combination!

Just the right amount of distressing here.

Nicely done Roxane!

I am so looking forward to our working together again!

Let's just hope there are no blizzards involved this time!

I Can't Believe I Won!

Copy Me Challenge

So, I'm sure you've all heard about the CopyMe! Challenge presented by Donna at Funky Junk Interiors and Marian at Mustard Seed Interiors. The idea was quite simple, create something that represented their individual styles. But there was nothing simple about it! These ladies are seriously talented and each one has a very unique vision and perspective on life and decorating. But it was such fun to play along and there were tons of fabulous entries to both challenges.

And I still can't believe it, but I actually won the Funky Junk Copy Me! Challenge! I can't even tell you how thrilled I am! Donna is such a great inspiration. And I love not only her salvaged, funky junk style and amazing creations, but I love the girl behind the blog and the power tools - the heart and soul of Funky Junk Interiors! She is real and true and genuine!

For my entry, I decorated my fireplace and mantel as I thought Donna would. I used lots of vintage, rusty, chippy, salvaged goodness! You can read the entire post here. These are the highlights. I told Donna that even after I posted my entry, I kept finding things around my house that I could have included. I guess I really am a funky junk girl!

The girls from Elizabeth & Co. were represented here too!

The wheel belongs to Karla and the chippy ladder belongs to Susan.
What is it about chippy ladders that makes us all swoon?

Now if by chance you've never visited Donna at Funky Junk Interiors,
here's just a taste of the fabulousness that awaits you!
Believe me, there is so much to see.
You won't be able to take it all in at once!

Simply fabulous, right? And did I mention that Donna just signed a book deal?

I'm hoping for an autographed copy!

Not only was I blown away by winning the challenge, but also by the amazing post that Donna wrote in announcing the winner. Donna's been in my corner before. But she took extra time to browse around my blog, get to know me better and introduce me and Elizabeth & Co. to her readers. That was so incredibly generous and appreciated! Thank you Donna, from the bottom of my heart!

And thanks to Marian, more affectionately known as Miss Mustard Seed for picking me! After Donna narrowed the entries down to her favorite top five, Marian picked the winner.

Kelli at Restore Interiors was the lucky and wonderfully talented winner of the Miss Mustard Seed Copy Me! Challenge! Way to go Kelli!

And if you're visiting from Funky Junk, thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you enjoy your visit and come back again!

THON 2011

I am never more proud to call myself a Penn Stater than on THON weekend every single year!

The IFC/Panhelenic Dance Marathon, more affectionately know as THON, is the largest student-run philanthrophy in the world. Students at Penn State launch a year-long effort to raise funds and awareness for the fight against pediatric cancer. THON benefits The Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital.

THON is a no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon that lasts for 46 straight hours. THON began in 1973 with 39 couples and raised $2000. This year, 700 dancers and 15,000 student volunteers took to the floor of the Bryce Jordan Center hoping to exceed last year's amazing total of 7.8 million dollars.

THON ended just hours ago and here is the reveal for 2011 - For The Kids!

And if you ever wonder what college students are up to these days, here is your answer!
