Peace Sheet Music Garland

I haven't had all that much time to share holiday craft projects this month. For some reason, this December just seemed to fly by even faster than usual. But here is a quick and easy version of a sheet music garland that you can whip up in no time at all. I chose the word PEACE for my mantel.

Old hymnals are usually pretty easy to find, very reasonably priced and are perfect for so many sheet music craft projects.

If only seemed appropriate to go to the Christmas section.

I just tore out five pages.

Then I went to Microsoft Word and printed out a few different fonts and sizes of letters until I was happy. I ended up with Century, size 400. Then I used a glue stick to glue the sheet music on printer paper at the correction position where the letters would print.

 Once they printed...

I just cut them out.

These pages were especially cool because they actually had drips of wax on them - see that spot in the lower right corner in the above photo. I could just imagine someone singing these songs by candlelight.

Then I just punched two holes in each sheet and connected them with red and white bakers twine. I added a little red bell for fun.

And that was it - quick and easy!

And you could certainly add glitter or other embellishments, but I kind of liked the simplicity.

And in case you're wondering, I attached the garland to the mantel with these nifty little Command hooks.

They will be so easy to remove.

I just covered the hooks with garland.

Our stockings still need to be hung, but the stocking hangers seem to be missing at the moment.

But I'm loving the garland and PEACE is exactly what I'm wishing for all of us this holiday season!

A Wreath Making Frenzy

So what's a girl to do while waiting out a hurricane? Well if she's lucky enough to have power for her glue gun, she goes on a little wreath making frenzy!

While other people prepared by stocking up on milk, bread and toilet paper, I made sure I was ready with greens, ribbon, berries, snow and glitter!

For holiday wreaths, I like to start with a pre-made green wreath, but always add wispy pieces of other greenery to make it more interesting.

The fun part is picking out what pieces to hot glue on to the wreath.

I try to coordinate the color of the bow with whatever elements I'm going to add to the wreath. I don't start out with a specific plan, I just add items that coordinate nicely and every wreath ends up a little bit different.

Wired ribbon makes the very best bows.

Too bad I don't have a beach house!

Burlap bows are always fun too!

For a final touch, I lay the wreath on a sheet of poster board, spray with adhesive and give it a light dusting of snow and sometimes a little glitter too. It's only November, but my house is already covered with snow and glitter!

And I just had to make a few sheet music wreaths too!

Pretty, right?

So why did I go on a wreath making frenzy?
Our Elizabeth & Co. Holiday Open House is next weekend!

If you're a local reader, I hope you can join us! Our little house is decorated from top to bottom with vintage holiday goodness!

There will be preview photos later in the week.
Complete details are on the sidebar.

Hmmm, I think I feel a stocking making frenzy coming on next!
