Frosty Sheet Music Candles

These frosty sheet music candles are a quick and easy holiday craft project and a great little gift idea!

And they just happen to be super cute and thrifty too!

You'll need some glass candles (mine are from the dollar store), holiday sheet music, Mod Podge (white glue would work too), a sponge brush and some glitter. You could use fancy glitter, but I like this glitter from the kids craft section at Michaels. For holiday projects, it has a nice frosty look.

Simply tear out your sheet music and size for your candle.

Use a sponge brush to liberally coat the back side of the paper with Mod Podge.

Then wrap the paper around the candle.

And gently smooth out any air bubbles.

Then apply a layer of Mod Podge to the outside of your candle.

And sprinkle with glitter. If you sprinkle over a piece of wax paper, a paper plate or a plastic bowl, it's easy to pour the excess glitter back into the original container.

After they were dry, I gently dabbed on an extra coat of Mod Podge to seal the glitter and keep it from flaking off when you handle the candles. That worked great. I also experimented with a spray sealer and that worked fine too, although I'm not a fan of the fumes.

I embellished my candles with red and white bakers twine and tiny bells. You can just thread the bell right on the twine.

I especially like the cute graphics on this sheet music. And if you don't have any holiday sheet music on hand, there are lots of free printables out there.

You could use this same method to make all kinds of cute candles with different kinds of paper and embellishments.

I think Jolly Old Saint Nick is my favorite!

So cute, Elizabeth! I did the same thing a few years ago and loved the results. I used vintage-looking Christmas sheet music and added some bling. Great idea.

I'd sure love to find the sheet music you used. It's perfect for your project. The graphics really make the candles come alive. I have two of those candles but have yet to do anything with them, maybe some pretty gold paper I have would be good. Maybe put them in the bathroom to make it more Christmasy. I don't have any bells tho, they're all out in the box that can't be reached so think I'll have to buy some after all.
These would be great gifts for anybody. Wonderful post.
Merry Christmas and Happy New year
