My passion for gardening started long before I ever painted a piece of furniture. I just love playing in the dirt! And there is nothing like watching the gardens come to life each spring. Want to see what's blooming?
Daffodils are an all-time favorite and a sure sign that spring has arrived! What's not to love about a tiny little bulb that you plant in the ground in the fall and totally ignore all winter long.
Then when you think it will never get warm again, you are rewarded with masses of bright, sunny flowers that just get bigger and better with each passing year!
Daffodils are an all-time favorite and a sure sign that spring has arrived! What's not to love about a tiny little bulb that you plant in the ground in the fall and totally ignore all winter long.
Daffodils are quite possibly the easiest perennial to grow. They thrive in almost any location, need no special care and are resistant to pests and diseases, even deer!
Daffodils are perfect for cutting too.
This variety has three blooms on one stem - so pretty!
But daffodils aren't the only thing blooming this spring.
Pink Dogwood
Crabapple
Azalea
Lilac
Cherry Laurel
Virginia Bluebells
Purple Leaf Plum
Windflower
Grape Hyacinth
Fothergilla
White Dogwood
Pulmonaria
Iris
Fragrant Viburnum
Pieris Japonica
Lenten Rose
Allium
Flowering Cherry
So there you have it, my spring garden tour. I missed a few, but you get the idea. I love flowers. Every day there is something new to see, smell and enjoy!
And I have a little low-maintenance, easy-care gardening philosophy that really works for me. I try to have a wide variety of flowering trees and perennials throughout the yard. They really do require only a minimum of care and just keep getting better with age. Plant them once and watch them flourish. Then I save the annuals for pots on the porch and patio. These require watering several times a week throughout the summer, but that's pretty manageable. A combination of perennials and annuals is the best of all worlds. I find gardening catalogs to be a wealth of information and inspiration. If you are looking for a place to start, I suggest White Flower Farm. ..... So what's growing in your garden this spring?

Everything is so beautiful, Sharon! It's been nice getting rain around here lately because everything looks so green and bright.
Oh, Sharon, it's all so beautiful! I inherited a gorgeous and mature yard with our house 5 1/2 years ago. With it we got tons of daffodils, a weeping cherry tree that sits just off the pathway to the front door, and large, mature azaelas out back that are flowering red, pink and white right now. There is a lot of spring maintenance that has to occur each year, but perennials really are the gift that keeps giving and once the spring clean up and mulching is done, it's so worth it to enjoy the parade of colorful flowers. Next up are the irises. The ones in full sun are just blooming now...
I enjoyed all your pics, everything is lovely. I am hoping our lilacs will bloom this weekend. Thanks for sharing all those beauties:)

Holy cow! I am stunned by all of that beauty in your yard. You are an amazing gardener! Those dogwoods expecially catch my eye. Gorgeous!
Beautiful display of spring favorites! I tried to name all your Daffodils, and the pink azaleas looke like Coral Bells?
We've moved on from Daffodils and Azaleas here, now a spring memory that was somewhat off schedule this year.
Oh my, Sharon, what a treat! Your garden is everything I imagined and more! Your dogwood trees (my favorite trees) are spectacular. You have a stunning variety of flowers that complement each other perfectly. You are a gardener extraordinaire. Oh, and your photographs are superb. I want to run outside right this moment and start digging!
I'm coming to your house! We are still struggling to get spring to understand the time is NOW! Your garden is simply beautiful and I am only slightly (ok, mostly) green with envy! Glorious, Sharon. Thank you for sharing it with us ... especially we who are still trying to coax spring out of the ever lasting winter!
Happy weekend!
