My fascination with the two-toned paint combination continues with this sweet yellow and white cottage dresser.
This one came from a yard sale last summer.
She was a little wobbly and not in perfect condition, but just so darn cute!
I decided to go with my absolute favorite yellow - General Finishes Milk Paint in Buttermilk - on the body of the dresser.
And the drawers are painted with Behr's Paint and Primer in One in Silky White.
I sanded the entire piece. The spots where the veneer was missing were patched with Elmer's Wood Filler. But I did not need to prime with either of these paints - a huge time saver. I finished with a light distressing and a coat of wipe on poly.
I really love this color, but I can never get it to photograph well. You'll just have to take my word for it that it's a soft buttery color - Buttermilk is the perfect name for it!
And the General Finishes Milk Paint comes ready to use in a can - no mixing involved.
I love the curves of this dresser, the open feel at the bottom ...
and of course the wheels.
This one ranks up there as one of my favorites!
And I'm happy to report that she found a happy home ...
in my guest room!
And a funny thing ... this is the room that we used as the inspiration for Megan's bedroom. It's from Sarah's Cottage - Sarah Richardson Design. Not sure if I've mentioned it before, but we love Sarah!
Well I recently came across this photo from that very same room. Yes, that's a yellow and white dresser from Sarah! Totally made me smile!!!

What a beautiful job you've done with this piece, Sharon. I love the two tone and that yellow really makes its pop. Megan
I love the two toned look...it has me thinking!
so very soft & pretty - I love the combo and that you had the same vision as sarah - sigh! I adore the bedding she chose for that cottage bedroom too (hmmm does that get you thinking to maybe switch that out someday for a fun summer breezey look)? can you tell I'm yearning for summer????
I love how this turned out Sharon!
I have the same dresser - did it in Duck egg blue and white - didn't sell - changed it to Pink and white - hasn't sold - may have to try yellow next LOL

It is so cheerful!
Pretty dresser and fabulous makeover!!
Sharon I love what you did with the dresser. Yellow looks so happy. I just admire all the painting you get done. I'm in the middle of painting my entire fireplace wall with (of all things, ASCP) And I hope to have it done for your linky party!

The dresser is so beautiful. I love the color combo.
I love Sarah Richardson too--wish HGTV would put back all the good shows. How many House Hunters do we really need to see?

I love that color combination. It is so happy! Looks great in your guest room. Oh, I'm a HUGE fan of Sarah Richardson too.
Sharon, oh I love the dresser, looks so wonderful!
This is so pretty. Yellow is such a happy color and I need to use it more. Thanks for sharing, Patti@OldThingsNew
I absolutely love your yellow and white dresser. it would fit right in at my house.
That is totally smile-worthy. It looks great in your room and how funny to see almost the same thing in another setting, too- xo Diana
I LOVE this one!! It's the perfect yellow! Not too bright, not too mustardy (is that a word?). Perfect!
Such a sweet dresser. I love all the detail it has. The new paint colors work so well together I really like the look of using two colors. Have you found milk paint to be easy to use? I've been wanting to try some?
I love this style of dresser and you did a beautiful transformation! Oh...and Sarah is my all-time favorite designer! :)
Great transformation...found you over at Gail's MRL.
Love the buttery yellow - great job! Found you via I'm not a trophy wife favourite Friday linky party.
Sharon- This looks awesome! Everyone is talking about milk paint.. how is it different than regular paint? I love the look! Thanks for linking up I really appreciate the support as I build this one up!

SO pretty!! I love that buttery yellow color. Kind of like the strawflower color I used on hayden's dresser. Pretty!
Positively love the yellow. Looks great!
Oh how I love Sarah Richardson and I love that dresser. It was meant to be that you painted it in those tones! So cute, that is my favorite shade of yellow.
Pretty dresser. I adore Sarah Richardson and here inspiration is so present in your room. Nicely done.
How pretty and fresh looking! Just what we need on these cold winter days!
Nice work! I love that style of dresser. I passed one up one day last summer and have regretted it ever since. Very sweet and fresh looking piece.

So pretty! I would love for you to share this or any of your great ideas at the link party going on now (and every Saturday through Tuesday) at 'Or so she says ...' Hope to see you there! www.oneshetwoshe.com
What a beautiful colour combination - well done!
Sharon I love it. So pretty and your little girls room is so darling. Thanks for sharing with us I'm truly inspired to paint something yellow. Hugs, Peggy
What a wonderful transformation! I also love the shape and details of this piece, and the colours you picked are very calming...love it!
Sharon, how funny that you chose to do your dresser in that color combo. Your subconscious must have remembered it. And it ranks right up there as one of my favorites as well. You did a beautiful job. It's nice to know that a little missing veneer isn't a big problem. I have a piece I've been wanting to tackle, but it has missing veneer too. Will have to go at it with some Elmer's wood filler. Thanks for mentioning it. Have a great day!

I love the dresser. It looks amazing!! I love Sarah Richardson, too. She has awesome style.

I love the yellow, I love the dresser, I love the two tone. I was trying to pin it to pinterest but I can't seem to from my I-pad. Thanks
Yellow is one of my least favorite colors, but oh my gosh Sharon--you hit this nail on the head! What a beautiful piece of furniture, love the two toned look and how it brings out the colors in the bedding.
gorgeous!!!

This dresser is lovely, Sharon, and goes perfectly with all the blues and whites in the bedroom--I love it!
This is fantastic. I saw you over on My Repurposed Life, and this was my favorite project of the week. Great job!
And how fun that Sarah put something similar in one of her rooms!
