If you've been following along, you know that I'm banishing the last remnants of dark pine from my life. I've had this rocker for thirty years. I think that's a long time to wait for a makeover, don't you agree?
I started with a light overall sanding with just a sanding sponge. Then I used two coats of General Finishes Buttermilk Yellow Milk Paint - no priming needed. And this comes already mixed in a can. It has a wonderful creamy consistency. It's not the powder that you mix with water.
I've used this color on a variety of projects and it's beautiful soft buttery yellow.
I distressed the edges lightly.
And finished up with two coats of Wipe-On Poly.
Oh, if only all painting projects could be so easy!
And this pretty yellow rocker has a temporary new home.

I must be a bit odd, but I do not like the distressed look. Love the color, and the quilt draped over the back.
I love your yellow rocker. I too am slowly replacing the wood in my house and just about done.
I can't take it anymore! I have to see this decorator house ASAP! The yellow makes the chair so much less grim. Great transformation!

I have a rocker that is nearly identical to this one and it it's 26 years old. A gift from my parents for our first child. It needs some help desperately!i was thinking of painting it in chalk paint, is this milk paint a better choice? I'm all for when you don't have to prime, which seems to be the case with both types of paint. Thanks for your input!
Did you user satin or gloss wax on this beautiful chair? Also, how did you distressed ? was it with sandpaper or another paint? Thanks you inspired me to use milk paint for the first time ;)
