Megan says that I always find the best china cabinets. I'm not sure how that happens. I never have anything specific in mind when I'm out hunting.
This one came from a yard sale. I actually stopped by first thing Friday morning. I passed this one by because the price was too high. But I stopped back on Saturday. This piece was still there and the seller was ready to negotiate - sometimes you just get lucky!
It had lots of dings, but was otherwise in great shape.
And it was the perfect size - lots of storage, but not oversized.
The color is an oops paint in classic grey - so versatile. I mixed it up with the homemade chalk paint recipe.
The hardware was just too pretty to change.
Love that curvy door!
I removed the grid in the glass door. It was funky fake wood and gave the piece a dated look. The shelves are missing in the photo as we were about to load her up and you don't want shelves flapping around in transit.
After two coats of paint and distressing, I finished up with a coat of SCJohnson wax. There are lots of fancy wax options that work great, but this one works well, is reasonably priced and easy to find at your local hardware or big box store.
So there you have it - a classic grey china cabinet. And another piece of furniture finished and out of my garage!
Winter is coming you know!

Absolutely gorgeous! I am so glad that this piece was there when you went back the next day. You are so talented. :) Megan
wow ! So pretty !
This is so pretty! I have been painting for almost 2 years, and have yet to do a china cabinet. Maybe I have some inspiration now!
I'd say your daughter is right about finding great China Cabinets! That looks so gorgeous now! You can't go wrong with a pretty shade of gray!
Beautiful!!!! The curve on the front door is so unique, I've never seen a hutch with that detail.
SO pretty! That's the perfect gray for it too. Great job :)
oooh that is a beauty! i love the shape of the door!
It's lovely! China cabinets are a BIG DEAL to paint...I can't believe you do so many of them, and so beautifully too.
Incredibly pretty!
Gorgeous. I think your daughter is right. Love all the details and the colors. x
I love the simple lines and the beautiful paint color! I look at china cabinets on CL all of the time and see them from $50 to $2500. I really hope to make one over soon! Would be so happy if it turned out as beautiful as yours!

What a great piece. I like the size and the details. Such a great new colour and refreshed look.
Definitely an amazing cabinet! You did such a great job with it! I love how open the glass looks without the grid in it! Great job Sharon!
very pretty cabinet! Yard sale eh? you lucky girl. Glad it's out of your garage already! :)
love the color, distressing, and the fact that you use SCJohnson wax. :)

So gorgeous! You did just the right amount of distressing, very little. I love the shade of grey. You have my style, pass something by at a garage sale because the price is too high, then come back later to nab it! Sometimes I cruise around Saturday afternoon and pick up "free" things that didn't sell, and people just leave them out with "free" on it. Don't tell my husband.....the cost of gas and all!
Great refinish job - it made that cabinet look entirely different. Garages are made for furniture, aren't they?
Just found your blog through Pinterest, I love how you framed your bathroom mirror! I read on there about your Valentine's Day in State College. I had reread it to make sure it's my hometown, State College! I was born and raised there so it's nice to see someone who loves HV as much as I do! Love your blog and I'll definitely be coming back!
Love It! New follower via blog hop! Would love for you to follow back!?
That is classic and beautiful An outstanding job. I love that color too, something besides white!
I have not seen a cabinet quite like this before! It is very charming and I think the color you chose is perfect for it! Nicely done! It's going to make someone's home extra cozy and elegant this holiday season!
Best Wishes and Blessings,
Amanda

What a beautiful piece. Very nice work! That hardware is lovely.
Gorgeous grey china cabinet, Sharon--I love it! I also love that you use relatively inexpensive painting and waxing supplies and always come up with beautiful results--I find that very inspiring!
