Then I heard it. A crash! I knew exactly what had happened. I didn't want to look.
And there it was. I had an unexpected before and after to share with you.

What happened? The nail came out of the door. Note to self, use a screw next time.
It could have been worse. It looks like it slid straight down the door and most of the broken ornaments are on the bottom and the side that probably hit the doorknob.
Imagine if it had fallen forward when it hit the floor.
It can be fixed.
Megan, we'll need to schedule another craft day.
And that's a good thing!

Oh No! I'm glad that it can be fixed...If it makes you feel better we had our entire 13 foot Christmas tree fall over this year! :)

Oh my. I lost one of mine at a show. The wind took it over and all I could think was, "My vintage babies!" So sorry.

So glad that all the ornaments didn't break, and it is fixable, plenty of time before next Christmas. Maybe use a cup hook instead of regular screw.
Hope to see it back up in about 350 more days.

That's such a bummer! And it made it through all the holidays too! I thought you were going to say the whole door crashed forward smashing everything. Whew.

I have often wondered about these beautiful ball wreaths for this very reason. I thought it I ever made one, I would use the unbreakable kind. But then they would not be vintage!
I think I would have cried right then and there! All your hard work! It's gorgeous, and I'm sure that with a little TLC you two will have it looking as good as new!

Oh, ouch, that's not good at all. It was fabulous. So I'm making mine from plastic, shatterproof ornaments. It'll be outside and at least 4 feet across at the peak of the house, so if it falls it'll be game over too.
