This is not even my own personal style. I tend to like pieces that are a little more casual. But she's just one, big beautiful piece of furniture! Except for some wear on the top, she was in perfect condition. If you're a furniture purist, perhaps you should just avert your eyes now, because yes, there was paint involved!
I absolutely love the color, but I have no idea what it's called or how it made it's way into my garage. I found it on the shelf with all the other paint. It's Behr color match with the formula on the lid. I am positive that I did not buy it and no one in my family seems to know how it got there. Only a very small amount had been used out of the can, so I decided to give it a try. It's a gray with a good amount of brown, something along the lines of greige. And it's just a really cool color!
I found this piece at my local Goodwill and I was immediately drawn to the curves.
I loved the original hardware and just gave it a coat of old white chalk paint for a nice contrast. I love the way chalk paint adheres to hardware and really brings out the details. It gives a nice aged look and makes painting hardware a breeze!
I gave the entire piece a light distressing and a few coats of poly for durability.

you already know how i feel about it.... pitter pat pitter pat goes my heart!
What a beautiful piece! I love the look of the gray color. I'm trying to be brave enough to paint a couple of my own pieces gray, but I'm afraid I won't choose the right shade!
This is gorgeous! I love the color that you chose! Stopping by from CRAFT link party.
By the way, I have a fun giveaway going on now, check it out if you'd like--

I wish random paint would show up in my garage!! LOL! This turned out great! Love the curves and the greige looks perfect on it!!
Beautifully done! Love the contrast of the hardware!
This is just dreamy! Gorg-e-ous! The grey and white are the perfect combo!
Absolutely gorgeous! Love how the hardware turned out too. I've never been a gray girl before, but I became a big fan after trying Paris Gray last month. I may have to investigate more shades of it!
Love the colour! It looks so fresh now and the hardware colour works so well.
Sharon, That is one of my favorite pieces you have ever redone, I think! I love the color and it looks GREAT with the white hardware. I would be hard pressed to part with her! xo Diana
That's one of the prettiest things I've seen from Club G.W. in a LONG time! It's so funny you don't know where the paint came from! Divine Providence, perhaps? lol
Love the greige....

Wiping the drool off my chin. Gorgeous!!
So beautiful! I love the greige LOL! I get a lot of this style furniture and it is VERY heavy! Once me and my son dropped one on the driveway and it didnt hurt it a bit, a wonder the concrete didnt bust. Beautiful work!
I love the greige color! And the light hardware really pops against it! This was the perfect color for the piece!
I was interested to see that you used chalk paint on the hardware... I finlly ordered to cans to use on a little project of my own!

What a wonderful GW find and you've done a great job with the refinish. Thanks for sharing...I have several thrift shop pieces that could use a paint and wax job.
Hope you can stop by my blog to read about my Craigslist find last week.
Oh wow, this is beautiful. The color, the distressing, & the hardware. Great job! I love the curves as well. Good find for sure :)

Haha, I have similar paint in my garage, Sharon! I have no idea what it was used for or how it came into the house! I love this piece. I'm hoping to find something with a similar curvy shape when we move to use in my Master.
Cracking up at the mystery paint! This is incredible. Doesn't it make you wonder who actually gave this piece up and DONATED it to the GW? They obviously have not been exposed to the world of Home & Garden blogs! Just a beautiful piece.

Bummer that you don't know the color because I really love it. I will have to check the Behr line and see if I can come close. The white hardware looks so pretty with it.

That is one heavy buffet! I paint furniture but have to pass up so many pieces because they would be too hard to move around. Love the grayish color you chose. I've been considering a similar color for a dresser I'm hoping to sell (if I don't swipe it for my son's room, that is!). I featured you this week on my blog: http://www.imbusyprocrastinating.com/2011/09/get-me-motivated-monday_12.html
this looks amazing! Great job! I would love it if you would share this and/or any other projects you have been up to at Tuesday Talent Show at Chef In Training! Thanks so much and I hope to see you there!
