This one had been hiding out in the garage since last fall. I picked it up at a barn sale. And it even has a matching dresser that you will see soon.
Except for a few veneer issues, it was in great shape.
Originally a vanity, it had the holes on the top to attach a mirror. But Megan decided it would make the perfect desk.
After a little repair work with wood filler and a light sanding, she gave the body of the desk two coats of Paris Grey chalk paint and the drawers got two coats of Old White. I know they say you don't have to sand before using the chalk paint, but we think it's a good idea to at least go over your piece lightly with a sanding sponge.
The details on this piece are just lovely!
And we're in love with this color combination!
Don't you just love anything on cute little wheels?

That's quite the transformation!! I have a couple of buffets and sideboards that need an update! Did you get this at a barn sale in Mt. Airy?
Very nice indeed. It appears delicate, but sturdy at the same time.
That looks great! I'm loving all things gray right now! :)
What a great transformation in that "desk" with a little tender care and love.
I may 'borrow' your color scheme - have an old dresser that needs perking up. How long did it take you to settle on the colors? That seems to be the hardest thing for me. Thanks for the ideas.
Oh Sharon, I agree this is fabulous, great job! thanks so much for linking up to VIF!

I found you on C.R.A.F.T., and I just LOVE what you did. I have a vanity that could be a matched set with this, but my hubby won't let me paint it. Maybe after seeing this he will change his mind!

have you ever seen the antiques roadshow?
im a faithful watcher, love it.
many a tme, painting, or even refinishing a good piece of furniture is to devalue it.
it is quite lovely, but i thought it was quite lovely even before the paint....why oh why do people feel the need to paint everything??...why cant we allow a beautiful piece of craftsmanship made with quality wood ever speak for itself?
Wow this is gorgeous! What a transformation. I'd love it if you would check out my blog, I'm having a giveaway for a Dremel Trio!
beautiful vanity megan! I love the outcome.
