A Manly Desk

This project comes from Karla. It's a very unique desk and she thought it had a manly vibe.

Karla receved this desk from her sister-in-law (Thank you Anita!) as a Christmas present. Anita knows how much Karla enjoys furniture projects and thought this one would be a fun challenge. Isn't it funny when people give you their cast-off furniture because they know you will really like it? Karla described this piece as another big brown blob, but with natural wood.

That's a reference to the original horrible brown blob that Karla worked on. Whew, who can forget that one? We never quite figured out exactly what that cabinet was originally used for, but of course Karla made it so much prettier. You can check out the original post here.

The desk actually got the same creamy oops paint and a stain glaze.

Then she sanded just the drawers for a lightly distressed look.

Karla thought the original knobs just didn't work, so she replaced them with some cute black knobs.

There was a slight problem when the desk was dropped (ouch!) on it's way to our tag sale and the bottom drawer wouldn't close. But Karla's husband came to the rescue on that one.

What a great work surface and think of all the stuff you can hide in those drawers!

And Karla was right about the manly vibe. Her desk sold to a gentleman for his office! I have since seen the gentleman and his desk is a perfect fit in his home. Well done Karla! Can't wait to see the next big brown blob!
