Gotta Love A Good Save

Isn't this the sweetest little table?

Well, of course it didn't start out quite so cute. They never do. I brought this piece home from book club last month. Don't you love that? My friend Peggy brought if for me, although she was sure I wouldn't really want it. It was from her mom's house. They were cleaning out the basement and this was in the trash pile. Peggy's mom suggested that maybe she bring it home for me. Peggy thought it was beyond help, but her mom was right. Of course I wanted it! After a thorough scrubbing and sanding, I went with spray paint on this one. (No, not a paint sprayer, still dreaming about that!) The stains didn't wash out, so I used Kilz Original Oil-Based Primer and Sealer for maximum stainblocking. It looked so much better with just the primer. Then I sprayer it several times with Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch Ultra Cover in Warm Yellow. I finished it off with two coats of Minwax Wipe-On Poly. And that was it. Done and done as Karla would say. I think this was definitely a piece worth saving! Thanks to Peggy and her mom!

  16. Sharon, Fantastic job on the table! My mom and I love what you have done with it. I guess it goes without saying that my mom is usually right. She knew that you were the one who would bring that table back to life. It was originally my grandmother's table, so that makes it even more exciting!
