I'm not quite ready for yellow kitchen cabinets, but his little book stand was the perfect candidate for a little dose of yellow. And spray paint made this a quick and easy transformation. Like most projects, it started out basic brown.
I sanded.
I primed.
And then it was time for paint.
After two coats of Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch spray in glossy warm yellow, I mixed a little white paint into clear glaze. I brushed it on with a sponge brush and rubbed with a cloth. The result was a smooth finish with a nice soft look.
I think my books will be much happier resting here now!
And while I had the spray paint out, I decided to brighten up this sweet little plant stand. It was a boring shade of tan.
I love the little scalloped edges.
Much cuter, don't you think?
And because I just couldn't stop, a pair of wooden candlesticks went from brown to yellow in a matter of minutes.
Yes, much better!

Love the yellow! Such a pretty color and I like how it just really makes that table come to life!
My music studio and dining room are painted in a shade of yellow - Butterfly Wing is the name of the paint color. So cheery when it is dark and grey during the winter here in the Pacific NW.
Great projects. What a difference a little paint (and a little time) can make!
So cute. I'm also in love with that rich buttermilk yellow colour. It's given a new life to all those pieces. Lovely.

No color brings cheer to a room as much as yellow does! It's like bringing the sun indoors. Even though it's not my favorite color, I try to have a bit of it wherever possible. You're right--it goes well with most every other color.
You did a great job on your projects. All that sanding and priming was work, but worth it!
i also love that yellow! so happy!
You have the same addiction to yellow that I have to aqua. Very nice transformations.
So cute!! I would love to find a table like that, but no luck! I was thinking I might be abel to make one.... I so love that color! I also really liked that issue of CL. Great job on everything!
I love yellow too. I just made yellow gingham curtains and they are so cheerful! I love how the table and the stand came out.
I love it! I've been in the mood to paint something yellow and that is a great shade of it. Is that what it was called? Warm yellow? I wish I could find a plant stand like that. So cute with the scalloped edges.
I, too, am loving yellow lately! Thanks for sharing - they're all super-sweet, but I especially love the plant stand!
Hi there - and greetings from the other side of the country, California. Just discovered your wonderful blog and impressive upcycled vintage furniture decor. I strolled (or is it scrolled?) through your posts, and wanted to let you know that I also have a new found love for the color yellow! In fact, here is a recent post on this sunny hue. Look forward to following you!
