I sanded a bit more than usual to get through all the layers of paint. This little guy had gone through a few color changes.
After a coat of primer (Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3), two coats of blue that I already had on hand (Sherwin Williams Boathouse Blue), a light distressing and a coat of polyurethane (Minwax Wipe-On Poly), this little desk was as good as new. Well, maybe even better!
I have a similar desk in my family room that I use as an end table. The shelf is a great little storage bonus. Just because something started out as one thing, doesn't mean you can't use it in a different way!

great little desk, love the blue color
that turned out so cute! i have one just like it that i use as my son's nightstand. i painted it a rustic red and the top is a dark almost navy blue. it works well as a nightstand and even has the open space to stash bedtime books!
I have an old desk that I use as a nightstand too! Mine has a wooden top and a white metal base. Yours looks great!
There's still time to enter this week's Vintage Suitcase Friday (a place to link up something you have redone or repurposed) on my blog. I'd be honored if you would come buy and link up!
Another great makeover! I love the size of it as an end table. And it looks terrific in blue!
What a beautiful color! We're so glad you joined us for another great Anything Related party!

The colour blue you have chosen is one of my absolute favourites. I really love your style. I popped over her from The Shabby Nest and I'm following. Thanks for having me!!
